TMCA RECOGNIZES GABRIEL TECHNOLOGIES FOR OUTSTANDING MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS WITH 4 TRANNY AWARDS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MINNEAPOLIS, May 5, 2004 – The Transportation Marketing & Communications Association (TMCA) recently announced the recipients of the 2004 "Tranny" Awards program, which recognizes organizations in North American transportation that have developed creative, strategic marketing and communications. Tranny recipients were honored at a banquet May 4, during TMCA’s Annual Conference and Educational forum at Indian Wells, Calif., near Palm Springs.

This year, TMCA received a record number of entries totaling nearly 200. Recipients of the 2004 Tranny award in 10 separate categories are:

Integrated Communications Program category. Awards of excellence go to UPS, Yellow Corporation, Con-Way Transportation Services, Amtrak, The UPS Store, LM&O Advertising, and Maryland Transit Administration. Awards of merit go to Chicago Transit Authority, Freightliner LLC, Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, New Jersey Transit, AIMS Logistics, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, Gabriel Technologies Corp, MTA New York City Transit, re:group, Crowley Maritime Corporation, City of Tempe, P&O Nedlloyd, FedEx Freight.

Single Advertisement category. Two awards of excellence go to Crowley Maritime Corporation. Awards of merit go to Gabriel Technologies Corp, Freightliner LLC, Canadian Pacific Railway, Crowley Maritime Corporation, Maryland Transit Administration, and BSY Associates Inc.

Advertising Campaign category. Awards of excellence go to FedEx Freight and P&O Nedlloyd Logistics. Awards of merit go to Amtrak, Robin Shepherd Group, Gabriel Technologies Corp, MTA New York City Transit, Con-Way Transportation Services, Chicago Transit Authority, Freightliner LLC, Ft. Worth Transportation Authority, Crowley Maritime Corporation, GO Transit, and American Public Transit Association.

Direct Marketing category. An award of excellence goes to FedEx Freight. Awards of merit go to Robin Shepherd Group, Regional Transportation District, Pilot Air Freight, and Union Tank Car Company.

Communications Collateral category. Awards of excellence go to Robin Shepherd Group, Freightliner LLC, and Amtrak. Awards of merit go to Amtrak, Robin Shepherd Group, PBB Global Logistics, San Joaquin Regional Transit District, Freightliner LLC, Canadian Pacific Railway, Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., GO Transit, Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, P&O Nedlloyd, and FedEx Freight.
Publications category. An award of excellence goes to Clark County Department of Aviation. Awards of merit are FedEx Freight, Norfolk Southern Corporation, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), re:group, Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., and Amtrak.

New Media category. An award of excellence goes to Con-Way Transportation Services. Awards of merit go to Amtrak, Gabriel Technologies Corp, Roadway Express, Inc., and Saint John Port Authority.

Audio Visual category. Receiving awards of merit are Roadway Express, Inc., Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago Transit Authority, and Freightliner LLC.

Special Events category. An award of excellence goes to Amtrak. Awards of merit go to Port of New Orleans, Robin Shepherd Group, Metrolink, and Riverside Transit Agency.

Media Relations category. Awards of merit go to UPS, PBB Global Logistics, Schneider National and Porter Novelli.

The Tranny awards program is important because it raises the standards of professionalism, according to Tom Nightingale, vice president of corporate marketing for Schneider National and co-chairperson of the 2004 Tranny awards program. This awards program has been in existence for more than 50 years.

"We (Gabriel Technologies) were excited to see industry recognition for our marketing program that has demonstrated effective market awareness in a relatively short period of time", said Dan Chicoine, director of marketing for Gabriel Technologies Corp.

Entries in this year’s competition qualified if they focused on organizational marketing or communication within the freight or passenger transit industries, and were produced for primary use from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2003.
